Project Summary
Red Run Golf Club partnered with Isidore Automation to solve a persistent mowing challenge in a hilly, highly visible section of the course that had become worn and damaged by traditional mowing equipment. By deploying a robotic mower, the course achieved consistent mowing height around prominent tee boxes while eliminating turf damage caused by larger machines. The robot’s frequent, lightweight mowing improved turf density and overall grass health. At the same time, the agronomy team regained valuable labor hours to focus on detailed course conditioning.

Introduction / Background
Red Run Golf Club faced a recurring issue in a sloped area of the course surrounding several high-visibility tee boxes. The terrain was uneven and susceptible to wear from traditional ride-on mowers. Repeated passes with heavier equipment caused turf damage and compaction, leaving areas torn up and difficult to maintain.

Beyond the physical damage, the maintenance crew also struggled to maintain a consistently tight, uniform cut in such a visible location. Because the area required careful mowing and frequent attention, it consumed valuable crew time that could otherwise be spent on detail work throughout the course.

Course leadership began exploring robotic mowing as a way to maintain pristine playing conditions while reducing wear on sensitive turf.

Methodology
The team at Isidore Automation worked closely with Red Run’s grounds staff to evaluate the terrain and determine the best robotic mowing solution for the area. A demo was conducted to assess slope performance, mowing coverage, and how well the robot could maintain the tight turf conditions required around tee boxes.

During installation and setup, the system was carefully mapped to ensure the robot could navigate the hills while maintaining consistent coverage around the most visible areas. Adjustments were made to optimize mowing schedules so the grass would be maintained daily at a precise height without overcutting.

Because the robot mows frequently with lightweight contact, it eliminated the need for heavy equipment passes in this fragile area.

Results
The robotic mower quickly proved to be the ideal solution for the terrain.

The robot maintained a consistent, tight cut around the tee boxes, creating a clean, professional look that is immediately visible to golfers. Because the mower operates frequently and trims small amounts of grass each pass, the turf has become thicker, healthier, and more resilient.
